Heart Transplant for a Moggie

Morris Minor

The Morris Minor convertible we pulled from a barn after 30 years is coming along with new brakes, a new fuel system and a number of jobs to get it all up and running. However, we soon found that we had very low compression on cylinder 4, too low for ignition so it was only running on 3 cylinders. Head gasket or a leaking valve was suspected so we removed the cylinder head to find a hole in the top of the piston – not something you see too often. Given the wear in the rest of the engine we opted for a recon unit from Charles ware in Bristol so this is the next big job.
